“So I said: “Woe is me, for I am undone! Because I am a man of unclean lips, And I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; For my eyes have seen the King, The LORD of hosts.””
Isaiah 6:5 NKJV
Can you imagine being confronted with the Holiness of God? Isaiah was and this was his response.
He. Was. Un. Done.
In light of being exposed to the Majestic Glory of God, his human flaws were being exposed. And do you know how God responded to that? He sent an angel down with a hot coal to touch his lips, cleanse him from his sin and take away his iniquity. (Isaiah 6:6-7)
Then, God gave Isaiah an opportunity to be used by Him and Isaiah took it with full force.
See, when we are undone by God, like an extreme makeover, He does us over. He remodels us and reshapes us into the people He always intended we would be.
He didn’t hold Isaiah in a prison cell for all the wrong He had done- that Isaiah FINALLY admitted to! But He set Him free in a way that he couldn’t free himself.
Maybe you’re afraid to give God all of your heart because you’re worried that if He sees how evil it really is, that He will punish you for it.
Can I encourage you today, that that is not how God will respond at all. God is love. His heart is a heart of love and His voice is a voice of love. If you want to know what He thinks of you, listen out for those whispers of love.
“There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.”
1 John 4:18 NIV
God does not cause fear- because fear has to do with punishment and He is the complete opposite of fear. In your undoing, He will bring out an unbreakable you. He will cause you to be strong and resilient because Love makes us resilient. I’ll talk more about that tomorrow.
Let us pray:
Heavenly Father, You are so Holy. Your power exceeds all others. We thank you that in your power, you choose to love us. Thank you that you love ME! Even though I have sinned against you, You made a way for me to be cleansed. Let my response be like that of Isaiah- that when you will ask “Who will go for me?” I can say “Here I am Lord, send me.” For you, I will do anything. Take my heart Lord and cleanse it. Forgive me of my sin. Cleanse me of my iniquity. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
