““Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, And whose hope is the LORD. For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, Which spreads out its roots by the river, And will not fear when heat comes; But its leaf will be green, And will not be anxious in the year of drought, Nor will cease from yielding fruit.”
Jeremiah 17:7-8 NKJV
Oh what trust it takes to be vulnerable enough to give Jesus your broken heart. And then to take all your hopes and dreams that may have been shattered along with your heart and to pin that hope in Him. Unimaginable trust.
But somewhere deep down inside of us, like a gift that’s been hidden underneath the Christmas tree the whole time- just waiting to be discovered- we find trust.
As we find that trust and pin our hopes on a loving Saviour, a promise is attached.
Streams of income – Beauty 4 Ashes
“Beauty 4 Ashes” is a model God showed me when I was asking Him for His vision for my life. The model was based on me being like a River and there being many streams of income flowing to resource me, so I could resource others.
There are streams of income that we need to sustain financial growth. Relying on one source of income risks the ability to function as a person, family, community or organisation if that one source dries up.
The same is true for our mental and spiritual sustainability. We need different healing streams (methods of self-care) to sustain our growth.
Therapeutic streams can come in various forms. One stream can be worship music. One could be having regular coffee dates with friends who speak life into you. Another could be getting to a professional counsellor.
Having these practical things in place will help to water your soul. Trusting God with your heart will allow you to step into these areas that challenge and refresh you so that you can experience this everlasting joy.
Maybe resting and doing nothing challenges you. Do it. Perhaps spending money on yourself isn’t something that comes naturally. Do it. Stretch your capacity to be cared for by yourself and others will learn to care for you too.
And you will become a like a tree, planted by the waters. You will not only be receiving these life giving gifts, but you will have an overflow ready to give to others.
